Frequently Asked Questions
Ambulance booking, pricing, and emergencies — answered.
How much does an ambulance cost in India?
Private ambulance pricing in India typically ranges from ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 for a basic BLS ambulance within city limits, ₹2,500 to ₹8,000 for ALS, and ₹5,000 to ₹25,000 for ICU ambulances depending on distance and equipment. TEZride shows the final fare — base + per-km + add-ons — before you confirm the booking, so there are no surprises.
What is the difference between a BLS, ALS, and ICU ambulance?
BLS (Basic Life Support) carries a stretcher, first-aid kit, and basic oxygen — suitable for stable patients being transferred. ALS (Advanced Life Support) adds a defibrillator, advanced oxygen, suction, and IV — suitable for patients needing en-route monitoring. ICU ambulances add a ventilator, cardiac monitor, infusion pumps, and a paramedic or nurse — essential for critical patients and inter-hospital ICU transfers.
Is 108 ambulance free? When should I use it vs a private service?
Yes — 108 is the free government-run emergency ambulance service available across most Indian states. It should be your first call in any life-threatening emergency. Private services like TEZride are useful when (a) you need a specific vehicle type (ICU, neonatal, mortuary) that 108 may not dispatch, (b) you need transparent upfront pricing for a scheduled or non-emergency transfer, or (c) 108 is taking too long to arrive. TEZride complements — not replaces — 108.
Can I book an ambulance for a dead body (mortuary transport)?
Yes. Select "Dead body transport" as the patient condition during booking. TEZride will show only mortuary-equipped vehicles — vehicles with cold storage, body bag, and mortuary-trained staff. Long-distance dead body transport across states is also supported in covered cities.
How do I book a neonatal ambulance for a newborn?
Select "Neonatal / pediatric" as the patient condition. TEZride filters the fleet to vehicles with infant incubators, neonatal ventilators, and trained neonatal nurses. Neonatal ambulances are critical for NICU-to-NICU transfers and should not be substituted with general ambulances.
How fast will the ambulance arrive?
Response time depends on your city, traffic, and the nearest vehicle's location. In our covered service areas, the nearest available, appropriately-equipped vehicle is typically dispatched in under 30 seconds after booking. You can track the driver in real time from the moment they accept the booking.
Do I need to create an account to book an ambulance?
No. TEZride allows guest booking with just a phone number. The driver will call you to confirm the pickup location. You can optionally save emergency contacts that get alerted with a live tracking link on SOS bookings.
What happens if I book an SOS emergency?
One tap on /sos dispatches the nearest available ambulance immediately. Your saved emergency contacts are sent your live location link, so family can follow along in real time. For life-threatening situations, we still recommend simultaneously calling 108 or 112.
Are TEZride drivers and vehicles verified?
Yes. Every fleet owner uploads their Aadhaar, PAN, vehicle RC, insurance, and fitness certificate. Drivers upload their driving license, Aadhaar, and photo. Documents are manually reviewed by our admin team before the vehicle goes live. Expired documents automatically disable the vehicle. Note: the fleet owner — not TEZride — is the actual service provider; TEZride is the technology platform that connects them with you.
Does TEZride own the ambulances?
No. TEZride is a technology marketplace, similar to how Uber connects riders with independent drivers. All ambulances listed on TEZride are owned and operated by independent fleet businesses. TEZride does not own, operate, or employ ambulances or drivers. We verify fleet owners' documents and enforce platform rules (pricing caps, booking flow, equipment standards), but the ambulance service itself is delivered by the independent owner who accepts your booking.
Can I become an ambulance provider on TEZride?
Yes. If you own one or more ambulances, you can register at /provider/register. Upload your documents, set your pricing (within platform-enforced caps), and start receiving bookings directly on your driver's phone with a siren alert. No dispatcher fees, no middleman commission eaten up.
Which cities does TEZride cover?
TEZride is currently live in Vijayawada, Guntur, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam. We expand to new cities as verified fleet owners onboard. If your city isn't listed yet, ambulance owners in that area can register at /provider/register to help us launch there.
What if no ambulance is available nearby?
TEZride's dispatch engine widens the search radius automatically if no vehicle is found within the normal range. If still no vehicle is available, you'll see an "Expand search" option. For life-threatening emergencies in such situations, always call 108 or 112 in parallel.
Still have questions?
For emergencies, always call 108 or 112. For other queries, email support@swedana.in.
